How to use the Average Dynamic Rate feature on WebCargo

WebCargo by Freightos now allows you to use the Average Dynamic Rate for quoting and eBooking. The Average Dynamic Rate uses data from the Freightos Air Index (FAX) to show the average price of shipments based on the last 5 days of eBooking transactions made on WebCargo, excluding contract rates.

The advantages of having the Average Dynamic Rate are as follows:

  • Instant visibility of the average rate based on all eBookings from airlines made over the last 5 days without having to click a button
  • Easily benchmark pricing for more accurate quotations when quoting to customers.

Find out in this article how to use the average dynamic rate.

First, click on the side menu, then on New Rate & Quote.

From here, add your shipment details. You can choose only to enter your origin and destination airports, which will show you the average dynamic rate by weight break point.

Alternatively enter more information such as Units, Weight or Weightbreaks, on top of the origin and destination pair.

To see additional boxes for your shipment information, turn on the Shipment details button.

Once this information is entered, click on Search all rates.

Important: if you activate the Shipment details button but only enter your origin and destination airports, you will receive an error message and will not see rates. If you are only searching for origin and destination airports, please deactivate the Shipment details button.

If you have entered your cargo details, there will be two types of rates available:

  • Live Dynamic Rate (live, bookable rates for the next 6 days)
  • Average Dynamic Rate (based on eBookings made with all airlines over the last 5 days) showing weight break based on your weight and dimensions. For example, if your shipment is between 300-500, you'll see the rate for that weight range.

Find out more about how Live Dynamic Rates work in this article.

If only the origin and destination airport details were previously entered, the Average Dynamic Rate will be shown based on different weight break points. The weight breakpoints that appear are for:

100-300kg
300-500kg
500-1000kg
1000-3000kg

Important: if you have a paid pack type, you’ll have access to the average dynamic rate for exports. If you have a Freightos Terminal Licence, you can access the average for export, import and crosstrade rates. If you’d like to find out more, please reach out to your account manager.
