How to build "Analysis Scenarios"

Depending on their user roles, users may want or need to build their own analysis scenario(s) without the support of their Onboarding Manager.

This can easily be done by using either the Extended Full Overview or the Scenario Designer module.

Using the “Extended Full Overview” directly from the Analysis Module

The Extended Full Overview (AG Grid) is an intuitive tool that uses Pivot Mode to help users build their own analysis scenario in just a few clicks. By selecting the relevant columns, applying filters when needed, and using drag and drop, results are generated instantly, and values are automatically aggregated based on the selected fields.

For example, if a user wants to analyse quotes at a country-to-country level, they can activate Pivot Mode, deselect all columns, and keep only the ones needed for the analysis. Then, by placing them in the appropriate areas (Values, Rows, Labels), the system will automatically aggregate the data by country, as shown below.

Users can also drill down into more detailed levels by expanding, for instance, the Destination Country, in order to identify specific deviations between suppliers.

Additional calculation columns, such as “Difference to Best Supplier”, can also be added.

However, this view has some limitations.

Building Scenarios from the “Scenario Designer” Module

This helps to build a scenario using existing columns for more complex analysis.

All Rate Management columns, as well as the related calculations, are created during the implementation phase together with the Onboarding Manager.

Important: Please do not modify any formulas in the columns before aligning with your Onboarding Manager.

From that point on, users can create their own scenarios by following these steps:

  1. To create an additional scenario, right-click the profile and Add.

  1. A pop-up window will appear. Enter a name for your analysis, select the rate profile it should belong to, and then click Save.

  1. Create groups where you will drag and drop the columns to identify them within the analysis easily:

  1. Drag and drop the columns you need.

In the screenshot above, you can see that under Available Columns, there are both Rate Columns, Quote Columns, and Additional Columns.

Rate Columns are values from your Baseline, coming directly from Rate Management. They are highlighted in blue and represent your active/incumbent rates. These columns should be selected for anything related to the lane information itself (for example, Origin Country, Lane ID, etc.) or to reflect baseline data (for example, Base Costs, UN/LOCODEs, etc.).

Quote Columns are values from the Supplier Quotes. They are highlighted in green and should be used to reflect supplier quote data, such as costs per 40 ft container, costs per pallet, or quoted values such as UN/LOCODEs, etc. Please note that these columns are intended to display quoted values only, and not calculated values or columns containing formulas, such as “Total Spend per Lane.” Those are described below.

Additional Columns are values that require calculations. They all have formulas behind them and were built according to the requirements you provided to your Onboarding Manager.

As an example, the scenario “Lane Overview”, created in the Scenario Designer module, is displayed below in the Analysis Module.

Everything selected in the Scenario Designer is visible there and can be exported to XLS format if needed.
