What is the FBX?

FBX stands for Freightos Baltic Index. It’s the industry benchmark for ocean freight rates on 40' containers (FEUs), produced with the Baltic Exchange and calculated daily (Mon–Fri). You’ll see a global composite plus 12 regional trade‑lane indices.

What makes FBX different is the data behind it. Instead of surveys, FBX is built from aggregated, anonymized, real‑time transactions from carriers, forwarders, and shippers on WebCargo by Freightos. It isn’t hand‑edited or “smoothed” - it reflects the same live rates used commercially.

In Terminal, you can view daily FBX values, track trends, and benchmark your lanes. Historical depth varies by plan.
