How to build an LCL open quote with Freightos Ocean

Within this article, you’ll learn how to create LCL quotes, enter shipment details, and manage fees and weight breaks.
How to Create LCL Quotes Directly from Search
First, to start the quoting process, expand the side menu and select New.
Then click on New Ocean Rate & Quote.
Find the Open quote toggle on the right-hand side and enable it.
Enter the origin and destination ports using the designated fields.
Important: this feature currently does not support exact address input.
Enter the remaining shipment details, such as departure date and commodity type. Then select the LCL option.
Under the Services section, you can select the Incoterm from the drop-down and choose the customer you are quoting for, both fields are optional.
Next, select who will handle customs for import and export shipments. Use the switch to determine whether customs charges should be factored into the quote.
Additional toggle buttons will be available for port charges. Choose whether to include port charges at both the origin and destination, and then, select Create Manual Quote.
Unlike FCL shipments, once you enter all search values, you can create a manual quote immediately, skipping the result page. This directs you straight to the quote builder with pre-filled shipment details.
Begin by specifying the duration of the rate’s availability. Select a validity date. Then, set the currency in which the quote should be displayed. After that, you can determine the quote's status.
Below this section, you’ll find the customer information area. To add a contact, click Add contact info and select an existing customer from your database.
Managing Fees and Weight Breaks
The LCL Open Quote feature offers a fee structure similar to FCL, covering origin, destination, delivery, and pickup charges.
Click on the Main legs tab to manage fees with weight breaks, such as setting different rates at varying weight intervals (e.g., starting at 0kg or from 10kg). Users can add multiple weight breaks to a fee and then edit successive breaks.
Start by selecting the Fee name.
Note that the initial break added will always be set to “0” and is non-editable by default. To add a new break, click on Add fee.
Choose the same fee name and the same rate type, such as Per KG. You will now be able to edit the Weight break.
Different types of fees can be included, for example, per CBM with specific unit costs. It's possible to add these extra fees and then introduce more weight breaks for the fees that were previously added, these do not need to be added in a sequential order.
Once saved, all fees are automatically sorted by size and reflected in the preview page.
