What customs fees do I have to pay

Import tariffs are taxes imposed by a country on goods and services imported from other countries. These tariffs are typically used to protect domestic industries by making imported goods more expensive, thereby encouraging consumers to buy domestic products. They can also be a source of revenue for the government.

Customs payments can be complex, but it's helpful to break it down into three parts:

Customs brokerage - This covers the cost of clearing your export and import customs clearance. For some origin choices (such as door-to-door delivery), it's automatically included in the quote. For others (such as port-to-port delivery), it can be added as an additional cost. If you have your own customs broker, you can choose to not include this in your quote.

Customs bond (US imports only) - This is a government-required insurance that guarantees payment of import duties and taxes. We can add the cost of your bond to your quote.

Customs duties and taxes - These taxes are based on the value and type of commodity and are assessed upon arrival at the destination port according to local customs authorities' import tariffs.

Freightos.com quotes do not include duties and taxes. We recommend checking with a licensed customs broker to confirm the amount you'll need to pay.
