Does the index include door to door pricing (land, customs, handling etc)?

Freightos Terminal benchmarks (including FBX/FAX) reflect the main freight leg only - not full door‑to‑door quotes. For ocean freight, rates are calculated CY‑to‑CY (Container Yard to Container Yard). For air, they’re airport‑to‑airport. That means origin and destination local charges - like THC, DTHC, customs clearance, pick‑up, and final delivery - are excluded. The one common exception: for US‑inbound ocean freight, DTHC is typically included in the ocean freight rate because carriers often charge it directly.

What is included are the core freight components and standard surcharges for the main leg. For ocean, that’s the base ocean freight plus BAF (Bunker Adjustment Factor), CAF (Currency Adjustment Factor), PSS (Peak Season Surcharge), GRI (General Rate Increase), and applicable canal surcharges (Suez, Panama). For air, that’s the base air‑cargo fee plus the fuel and security surcharges.

In practice, use Terminal to benchmark the market price for the main leg, then add your own local charges and services to build a full door‑to‑door view.
