Does the index include spot or contract rates?

Does the index include spot or contract rates?

Yes - both. In Terminal, you can switch between Spot and Contract using the rate‑type toggle, and view one at a time for clean apples‑to‑apples comparisons.

FBX and FAX are spot benchmarks. In the same interface, you can benchmark contract rates on the same ocean and air lanes, with granularity down to specific port‑to‑port and airport‑to‑airport pairs.

Beyond price, Terminal adds operational context: announced and actual transit times, plus port performance signals like anchor time, berthing time, and congestion level. This helps you understand not just what rates are, but what’s driving them.

The data foundation is broad and real‑time. Freightos applications ingest carrier APIs and rate files from 5,000+ forwarders, updated daily and representing $50B+ in annual freight spend. All data is anonymized and aggregated before it powers Terminal’s indices, lane benchmarks, dashboards, and APIs.

To use it, open a chart or lane view, then toggle Spot or Contract to compare trends separately.
