How do I know if a Quote is valid?
Freight rates change depending on supply and demand and each Quote has a validity period and expiration date. If your cargo is gated in after the rate expiration date, the provider will need to revisit this expired Quote based on the General Rate Increase (GRI). The gate-in depends on the available vessels/flights.
A GRI is the amount by which ocean carriers increase their base rates across specific lines, generally because of increased demand. GRIs can go into effect on the 1st or 15th of the month and often results in freight forwarders increasing their base Quotes.
For LTL and Express shipments, the rate shown is valid as long as the goods are picked-up within the validity dates.
The Quotes and rates shown on Freightos.com are based on the date you searched. Additional charges may apply if the gate-in or pickup date falls later than the rate validity date.
If your Quote expires, the logistics provider may need to give you a new payment based on current rates.
