How to add weight and dimension breaks to your quote

How to enter your weights, dimensions, and weight breaks for a static rate search.

When creating your quote, you’ll first need to specify important pieces of information like your origin and destination, profits and, if necessary, your weights, dimensions, and weight breaks.

In this article, you’ll find out how to specify your weights and dimensions before making a static rate search.

First, navigate to the Air tab. Here you’ll have all of the search parameters in order to start making your quote. You’ll notice that you have various different sections to enter your origin and destination, your profit, the date of departure, the service, and more. To the right-hand side, you’ll see a list of different options to enter your weight and dimensions.

There are 4 different tabs: Standard, Breakdown, Indicate weights, and Add pieces and they all have different functions.

Standard will not require you to enter any information before making a search and will show you rates with no profits added.

Breakdown will allow you to select and apply profits based on weight breaks. Choose to apply these per kilogram or as a percentage by clicking the dropdown next to Type. Select which weight breaks you want or don’t want to see in the results by clicking the box next to each weight break.

Indicate weights allows you to enter the complete weight of your cargo if you know its gross weight and volumetric weight. If you’re shipping dangerous goods, indicate the # of UNs. If you want insurance to be included in the price, add the Cargo value.

Adding a numerical value in the Volumetric weight or Volume sections respectively will automatically calculate for the other so you don’t need to enter both. Finally, indicate what you want the total to include.

Add pieces should be used if you don’t know the gross weight of your shipment. It has the same options as Indicate weights apart from being able to choose to add separate pieces and can add other rows by clicking on the symbol.

Important: you cannot search with Indicate weights and Add pieces together. Depending on the current tab selected is how the rate results will reflect.

Finally, once you’ve checked the weight breaks, weights and dimensions click on the Rates button. You’ll then be able to look through the rates and select those you want to use for your quote.
