How to create a group template

Using standardisation and automation with the group templates tool you can speed up the quoting process and include additional costs and variables when building a quote for your customer.

An example of when you may use these group templates is that you’re an agent or forwarder and you need to move a DGR shipment. By selecting the template created prior for DGR and the local charges used to quote the conditions will be automatically applied, saving a lot of time. Find out below how exactly to use this tool.

Create your template

Firstly, navigate to the Group Templates tab by going to Settings, Local Charges and then selecting Group Templates from the drop-down.

Then click on the icon to add a new template.

This will bring up a box to Add template for charges. Choose your template name and when this template should apply, for example, when looking at origin costs for export, or Import destination charges.

Once you have filled this information in, click the blue ‘Add’ button.

Connect your local charges

After clicking the Add button a list of all your local charges will appear. Select which local charges this template should apply to.

These charges will by default be selected in the Include column, meaning they will be added to the group defined under the template name. Select the boxes under the column By default for the services to be selected automatically within the quote.

Make sure to also select how the charges should be grouped, either for Export charges or Import charges. Depending on what you select, these Local Charges will automatically be applied at the origin or destination when selecting the group template when creating your quote.

Configure this to affect how the charges will be applied to the final quote. Once you’ve confirmed all of the charges, click Save.

Your newly created template will appear on the template list, along with other templates you may have.

You’ve now successfully created a group template, which will allow you to have group charges defined and pre-set as well as having specific charges pre-selected. This is sure to save you plenty of time in the future.
