What does insurance booked through Freightos.com cover?
When you book your shipment through a third-party insurance provider, such as on Freightos.com, you can add insurance that covers the total value of your goods, as well as the initial freight costs, up to a maximum of $500,000. Please note, for US domestic shipments (LTL, Air, and Express). the coverage limit is capped at $50,000.
To ensure that your shipment is properly insured, be sure to toggle on the insurance option (so you see "Yes - Add insurance") in the "Recommended Services" section when searching for a quote.
The cost for premium insurance is calculated as 0.23% of the cargo value, plus the initial freight cost, as well as a flat fee of $31. The minimum insurance cost is $45.
