How to set your preferred carriers

How to set your preferred carriers

Depending on which carriers and airlines you want your team to make quotations with, you can choose to colour code specific airline results to make sure your team knows which ones they should and shouldn’t be selecting in certain situations.

Watch the following video, or continue reading the article to find out how you can manage your preferred carriers on WebCargo.

1. Add preferred tags

In order to add preferred carriers, you’ll first need to add a tag to select. By default, there are 4 tags already in the system (Preferred, Core, Hub, and Do Not Use), but in case you have a specific reason for another, you’ll need to go to Settings, then Preferred and select Tags from the dropdown to add it.

Click on the symbol to add your new tag and a pop-up will appear where you can enter the name, the abbreviation of the tag, and the colour you’d like it to be.

Click Add when you’ve entered your tag information. You should now be able to see the new tag in the list.

2. Add your preferred airlines

To add your preferred airlines, first navigate to Settings, then Preferred then select Preferred from the dropdown.

Next you’ll be presented with all of the available preferred rules if there are any and also be able to add more rules by clicking on the symbol. In order to create a new rule, click on the plus symbol.

Once clicked, you’ll now be able to start adding rules depending on what you want or don’t want your teammates to use.

You can choose specific users you’d like these rules to be applied to, as well as the country of origin, destination, airports, rate type (Market, Promo or Contract) and the product type if you’re shipping specific products.

Once you’ve entered this information, you can now start to add which airlines should be used in which ways. You’ll see by default the sections Preferred, Core, Hub, and Do Not Use as well as any other tags you’ve added.

Enter the airline prefix that corresponds to each section and make sure if you’re adding more than one airline to separate with a comma.

Once you’ve added your airline prefixes, click Add. You should now see new rows depending on what information you entered showing the colour of the label, which airlines it covers and more. You can choose to edit or remove any of these preferred carriers by clicking on the pen and paper symbol and the red rubbish can.

3. Manage your results

Now you’re ready to make a static rate search. Click on the Air tab and make a search. Depending on which functions you have selected for each airline, within the search results you will see the colour coded tag next to the airline name.

And when it comes to adding your preferred airlines, that’s all you need to do. If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
