How to use the Airport Maps tool

How to use the Airport Maps tool

Sometimes your usual airport doesn’t serve the route you need, or you know the destination but aren’t familiar with nearby airports. Instead of searching manually, use WebCargo’s Airport Maps.

Using Google Maps, you’ll see the closest airports to your origin or destination, helping you quickly pick the best option. This article explains how to use the tool.

Important: The Airport Maps feature is available for paid WebCargo Rate & Quote users.

1. Accessing the airport maps feature

There are 3 ways you can access the airport maps feature. The first is on the homepage after logging in. Enter an address, a city or town to see the nearest airports.

The second option is to use the search bar in the side menu. To do this, expand the side menu, then in the search bar, enter Airport and select Airport maps from the dropdown. This will take you to the airport maps section.

Finally, you can navigate to the Airport maps section by clicking on the Tools section and selecting Airport maps from the menu.

2. Enter your destination airport

Once you have accessed the tool, simply enter a city, town name, zip code or the complete address of your origin, then click Search.

You’ll see the closest airports based on your search parameters. The available airports are numbered with a green marker with a unique number. To the right of the map, you’ll find the closest available airports, which are numbered too and correspond with the green markers shown on the map. If you have entered any offices that are close to your selected airport, these will also be visible on the map.

Depending on how many airports there are, you’ll see the closest to your destination at the top of the list and the furthest at the bottom.

3. Select your airports

Next, select each of the airports you want to see rates from by clicking on the box to the right-hand side of each.

Tip: airports highlighted in red means there are promo rates to this destination. White means they are standard market rates.

4. Choose your import or export destinations

See rates for export airports

If the airports you selected are to see export rates, or to get the goods from the destination airport, click on Export. This will automatically map the airports into the Destination search field before searching for static rates.

Select airports for import rates

You can also choose if you’d like to see rates for the selected origin airports (Export) for a specific destination (Import). Enter the airports that you’d like to see rates to, then click on Import. This will map the airports from the Export section and also the Import section and populate the information into these fields.

Once you have selected the airports, you can then enter your shipment details. Alternatively, you can search for rates for the origin and destination pairs without putting additional information in the search tool.

Click on Search all rates to gather all available rates for the chosen routes.

5. Comparing the best rates

After searching, the WebCargo platform will gather all available routes on the platform to quote with. Scroll through the results to view different rates per airline. Select the rates you want to include in your quotation.

If you have not entered specific weight and dimension details, you will see the standard rate per kilo along with different weight breaks. For each airline, you will see the different origin and destination airport pairings for each route.

At the top of the search results, you can also use the dropdown to select to see an individual origin airport or destination airport. Click on All origins or All destinations, and you will see the option to select an individual airport.

Clicking on one of the airports from the dropdown will automatically reload the results so you only see rates from the selected origin airports to the individual destination airport.

6. Create your quote

You can now follow the standard quote creation process. Remember to add your specific weights and dimensions and click ‘Rates’ every time you make a change. The selected airports will still be populated when a new search is performed.
